Everything you need to know about GCBD Network membership.
What is the Global Chairs & Board Directors Network?
The GCBD Network is the professional membership community of the Global Board Institute, connecting board chairs, non-executive directors, committee leaders, C-suite executives and governance professionals worldwide. It combines peer networking, structured governance education, board career support and thought leadership across four membership tiers: Standard, Premium, Executive and Corporate.
How much does membership cost?
Standard: $995 per year. Premium: $2,295 per year. Executive: $3,995 per year. Corporate: $9,995 per year for 5 seats. All memberships are billed annually. Multi-year and group pricing is available on request.
How is the value of each tier calculated?
We add up what each benefit would cost if you bought it separately, using GBI's own published prices where they exist (for example, the GMBR Masterclass lists at $1,550) and comparable market rates for the rest, such as senior advisory sessions, CV and LinkedIn reviews, and summit passes. On that basis Standard delivers $3,180, Premium $12,195, Executive $27,900 and Corporate $81,300 of value per year. These figures are illustrative of value, not cash equivalents.
Who can join?
The network is open to anyone with a professional interest in board governance. Standard is designed for aspiring and early-career directors, Premium for practising NEDs, Executive for board chairs, committee chairs and senior governance leaders, and Corporate for organisations investing in their entire governance team. Executive tier applications are reviewed for seniority.
Which tier includes the GMBR Masterclass?
The Build Your Board Director Brand & Get More Board Roles Masterclass, worth $1,550, is included free with Premium, Executive and Corporate membership. Standard members receive their 10% programme discount on it.
What is the Five Pillars of NRC Governance™?
A proprietary framework created by Wassim Karkabi for the NRC's complete mandate: Nomination, Remuneration, Succession, Evaluation and Development. It is the organising principle for GBI's education programmes and content, and the foundation of the Professional Diploma in NRC Governance™.
How is this different from NACD, IoD or other director networks?
The GCBD Network is practitioner-led (not association-governed), framework-anchored (Five Pillars™), globally distributed with regional depth (GCC, Europe, international), and integrated with a complete governance education ecosystem. It offers tiered membership with benefits calibrated to career stage, including board career support that most director associations do not provide at the membership level.
Can I upgrade my membership later?
Yes. You can upgrade from Standard to Premium, Executive or Corporate at any time. The price difference is prorated based on your remaining membership period.
Is there a free trial?
We do not offer a free trial. However, you can attend select GBI events and webinars as a non-member to experience the community before joining. If you are not satisfied within 30 days of joining, contact us to discuss your experience.
How do I apply?
Click "Apply for Membership" on this page and complete the application form, which takes 5 to 8 minutes. The Membership Committee reviews applications within 2 to 3 working days.
Can my employer or board pay for my membership?
Yes. Many members have their board or employer sponsor their membership as a professional development investment. We can provide an invoice addressed to the sponsoring organisation. Corporate membership is designed specifically for organisations investing in their governance team.
What countries are your members from?
Members span over 60 countries, with particular concentrations in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Singapore, Australia and the United States. Regional chapters are active in Dubai, Riyadh and London, with expansion planned.
